About the author: Daljit Singh Jawa

I was born and raised in a Gursikh environment in Pataila, India. My father, late S. Hari Singh, was a colleague of such eminent Sikh personalities as Bh. Vir Singh, Prof. Sahib Singh, and Principal Jodh Singh.

It is said that once when the Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala state happened to listen to his lecture, he was so impressed that -- right on the spot -- he insisted that my father, who was a junior teacher at that time, accept the highest job of Director of Education of Patiala State University.

I received my education including B.A (Math) and B.Sc (Civil Engineering) in Patiala, and after serving as S.D.O of irrigation for twelve years, I decided to try my luck outside India.

After serving for two years in Middle East on infrastructure improvement projects, I migrated with my wife and two sons to the USA in the 70s to join my two elder brothers in North Carolina, both working as professors in the state university.

Upon reinforcing my qualifications with a M.S. degree in Water Resources Engineering, I served the State of Kansas as a Water Resources Planner until I retired in 2003.

At present I am dedicating my time to revise the document in hand, that is the translation of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and doing some volunteer work for nursing homes. After the present document gets completed, within the next two/three years, I hope to write a book on "Unity in the Diversity of World Religions", which will focus on the fact that even though the major religions of the world look so different from their outer rituals or perceptions, they basically talk about the unity of purpose in bringing all humanity closer to the source of eternal happiness-its Creator, called by so many different names, and titles.
